Heavenly Father,
Our hearts are heavy as we come before You today. We grieve with the families of Bend, Oregon, whose lives have been forever changed by this terrible act of violence. In a moment, peace was shattered, and many now carry burdens of sorrow, fear, confusion, and loss that seem too great to bear.
Lord, draw near to those who are mourning. Hold close the families who have lost loved ones. Surround them with Your comfort, Your presence, and Your unending love. When words fail and tears flow freely, remind them that You are the God who is near to the brokenhearted and who saves those who are crushed in spirit.
We pray for those who were injured, both physically and emotionally. Bring healing to their bodies, minds, and hearts. Strengthen doctors, nurses, counselors, first responders, and all who are caring for those affected. Grant them wisdom, endurance, and compassion.
Father, we pray for a community struggling to understand such pain. Where there is fear, bring peace. Where there is anger, bring wisdom. Where there is despair, bring hope. Help neighbors care for one another, churches to be places of refuge, and community leaders to lead with courage and grace.
Lord Jesus, in times like these we are reminded how much we need You. Shine Your light into the darkness. Give comfort to the grieving, strength to the weary, and hope to those who wonder how they will face tomorrow. Help us to bear one another’s burdens and to be instruments of Your love and compassion.
We entrust every hurting family into Your hands, believing that Your mercy is greater than our pain and that Your presence remains with us even in the deepest valleys. May Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Prayer for Domestic Violence Awareness Month
God of refuge and God of truth, we come before you as a people who long for safety, dignity, and peace. You created every person in your image — cherished, worthy, and beloved — and yet we know that too many of your children live with fear instead of freedom, with wounds instead of welcome, with silence instead of support.
We pray today for survivors of domestic violence: for those who carry hidden scars, for those rebuilding their lives after harm, for those still searching for a safe place to stand. Surround them with your protection. Strengthen their spirits. Restore what violence has tried to steal. Let them know they are not alone, and that their story matters to you.
We pray for children who witness violence in their homes. Hold them close. Guard their hearts. Break cycles of harm so that new futures can grow — futures rooted in love, stability, and peace.
We pray for those who feel trapped, unheard, or afraid. Give courage to seek help. Give wisdom to those who offer support. Give our community eyes to see, ears to listen, and hearts willing to act with compassion and resolve.
We pray for those who cause harm. Turn them from violence. Disrupt patterns of control and abuse. Lead them toward accountability, repentance, and transformation.
And we pray for your church, O God. Make us a sanctuary for the vulnerable, a voice for the silenced, a community where truth is spoken and healing is nurtured. Teach us to walk alongside survivors with tenderness, to confront injustice with courage, and to embody Christ’s love with integrity and care.
Holy One, your light is stronger than any darkness, your hope deeper than any despair, your love more powerful than any violence. Let that love be our guide, our calling, and our commitment.
